La rhinoplastie à Paris is the surgical procedure used to beautify and harmonize the nose. Surgical techniques have progressed enormously over the last 10 years. Today, rhinoplasty is a painless procedure with excellent results.
Men’s noses have thicker skin than women’s. In addition, men are more likely to have a history of trauma. As a result, rhinoplasty in men involves certain technical considerations.

WHAT ARE THE SPECIFIC ASPECTS OF RHINOPLASTY FOR MEN?

The male nose is different from the female nose. In many cases :

  • The skin on the nose is thicker and fatter.
  • The nose has a history of nasal trauma. The septum may then show areas of scar tissue from fractures, and the bridge of the nose may show irregularities and rough spots.
  • The respiratory disorders are common: blocked nostrils or an inability to breathe through the nose while lying down.

WHAT IS COSMETIC RHINOPLASTY FOR MEN?

Technical Specifications

The aim of a rhinoplasty male is to obtain a straight nose. In most cases, a bump must be removed without hollowing out the bridge of the nose.

Most patients only need to have their nose carved and thinned out carefully. Do not remove any cartilage. In fact, you should define the tip of the nose, but not make it any narrower.

The plastic surgeon in Paris positions the nose tip, so as not to shorten it too much.

Procedure

In the majority of cases, the primary rhinoplasty takes place under general anesthesia. Only rhinoplasty to reduce the size of the nostrils can be performed under local anesthetic.

Once the patient is asleep, the plastic surgeon makes preoperative markings with a sterile felt-tip pen. Places surgical markers.

Next, an anti-bleeding, pain-relieving serum is injected throughout the nose.

Then, the structures osteo-cartilaginous are separated from soft tissues (skin), muscles and mucous membranes.

Next, the course of the operation depends on the surgical procedure:

  • Nose hump There are 3 techniques:
    • «The Push-Down technique: the bump is grated and compacted at the back of the nose.
    • « Ultrasonic Technology »The bump is filed down with an ultrasonic saw;
    • «The traditional method»: the bump is filed down with a rasp.
  • Nose tip : The surgeon reshapes the tip of the nose to give it the desired shape. This allows the surgeon to address: wide tips, overly projecting tips, asymmetrical tips, protruding cartilage under the skin, upturned tips, poorly defined tips, drooping tips, tips lacking projection, weak cartilage, and strong cartilage.

To visualize the expected result and possible transformations, consult the before-and-after rhinoplasty photos carried out at Dr. Djian's practice. They present male and female cases from medical and surgical rhinoplasty, to appreciate the natural, balanced look of a reworked nose.

The final result of rhinoplasty is visible after one month. However, this is not quite the final shape of the nose. After one month, 80 % of the final result is obtained.

The patient can then return to a normal social and professional life.

It takes about 1 year, sometimes 2 years, so that all scarring processes are completed and the final result is visible.

WHAT ARE THE POSTOPERATIVE EFFECTS OF RHINOPLASTY?

Postoperative edema of the male nose takes longer to resolve than edema of the female nose. postoperative feminine. This is because the skin and subcutaneous tissues are thicker, so they deflate more slowly.

Waking up after surgery

After the surgery, the patient wakes up with a splint on their nose and, sometimes, gauze swabs in their nostrils. If swabs are in place, they will be removed the same day or the next day. A gauze pad is placed under the nose for a few hours to absorb any fluid that may drain.

The first hours after surgery

In the hours following the procedure, the patient will still feel the effects of the anesthetic. It is important not to wait until the pain becomes too severe before taking pain medication. This is because pain raises blood pressure, which in turn increases swelling.

The patient can be discharged the same day as the operation.

Splint removal and resumption of activities

The splint is removed about 8 days after the procedure. The sutures placed in the nasal mucosa are absorbable. They dissolve after 2 to 3 weeks.

Once the splint has been removed, you can resume your social and professional activities.

Edema and ecchymosis: a normal evolution

However, the nose becomes swollen, and bruises appear in 50 % of cases. These typically disappear 15 days after surgery, on average. The swelling can be reduced with medication and ice packs.

Postoperative edema is normal and systematic. It gradually subsides, depending on each individual's nose. Generally speaking, one month after the operation, 80 % of the swelling has subsided. The nose is then slightly swollen, especially at the tip.

Healing and removal of scabs

Two to three weeks after plastic surgery, The scabs at the incisions in the nasal mucosa fall off. It's very important to let the scabs fall off on their own, otherwise bleeding may occur.

Healing is a slow, gradual process. It takes at least 1 year to complete.

Your Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT RHINOPLASTY FOR MEN

AT WHAT AGE CAN A MAN UNDERGO RHINOPLASTY?

more less

Male rhinoplasty is possible from the age of 17-18, once bone growth in the nose is complete.. Dr. Djian also assesses the patient's psychological maturity prior to any nose surgery, to ensure that the request is stable and well thought-out. A clear understanding of expectations is essential to guarantee a natural, harmonious result, without excessive correction.

CAN RHINOPLASTY BE PERFORMED IN SUMMER?

more less

Yes, the procedure is possible in summer, provided that direct sunlight is avoided for 2 months.. Dr. Djian recommends strict UV protection to minimize the risk of pigmentation on scars and control swelling. It is also advisable to wear a hat during the first few weeks and to avoid extreme temperatures and prolonged swimming.

HOW LONG DOES A RHINOPLASTY PROCEDURE TAKE FOR A MAN?

more less

A rhinoplasty for men lasts on average between 1h30 and 2h30, depending on the complexity of the nose and associated gestures (hump, tip, septum, asymmetry). Dr. Djian takes the time to adapt each gesture to the male morphology, to preserve a virile and balanced structure. The operation is performed under general anesthesia, either as an outpatient or with an overnight hospital stay.

SHOULD I STOP SMOKING BEFORE RHINOPLASTY?

more less

Yes, smoking impairs wound healing and increases the risk of postoperative complications. Dr. Djian recommends stopping smoking at least 3 to 4 weeks before rhinoplasty, and continuing to do so after the operation. Nicotine reduces tissue oxygenation, which slows edema resorption and weakens the aesthetic result of nose surgery.

IS THE RESULT STABLE OVER TIME IN MEN?

more less

Yes, a properly performed male rhinoplasty offers a stable, long-lasting result. Dr. Djian uses conservative techniques that preserve the structure of the nose and ensure long-term stability, even in cases of thick skin. Regular follow-up visits allow him to monitor postoperative progress and address any residual asymmetry or functional discomfort as needed.
