In short

  • Produced under general anesthesia, it refines or straightens the tip by acting on the wing cartilages and the nasal septum.
  • The post-operational effects are straightforward: little pain, social reintegration in 7 to 15 days.
  • The Botox sometimes slightly raise the tip without surgery, by acting on the muscle depressor nasi septi.
  • The price is around 6 000 €, no reimbursed by Social Security.

Do you have a broad, deviated or drooping nose tip? Rhinoplasty is the ideal solution for correcting these «defects».

The main characteristics of patients wishing to modify their nose tip are :

- A excess cartilage which results in excessive projection of the tip (hyperprojected nose); ;
- A drooping nose tip, which may fall more when the patient smiles; ;
- Some upturned nostrils, or too flared, revealing the columella; ;
- A asymmetrical nose tip.

HOW DOES THE OPERATION WORK?

Since there are several features considered defects, the plastic surgeon has several methods for correcting the tip of the nose.

Regardless of the technique used, a aesthetic nose surgery takes place under general anesthesia. Doctor Djian, plastic surgeon in Paris, the closed rhinoplasty. The operation takes place at’inside nose. There is no visible scar.

To raise the tip of the nose, it is not necessary to work on the’nose bone.

The nose tip surgery can be performed on both men and women (see our article on rhinoplasty for men). It raises the tip in a harmonious, aesthetic way. It also project the tip of the nose to give a «trumpet nose» effect, if the patient so desires.

For an overview of the results obtained after this type of procedure, consult the before and after rhinoplasty photos by the Dr Djian. They present a variety of cases, both male and female, illustrating both medical and surgical rhinoplasties.

WIDE TIP TREATMENT

There are several ways to correct a wide nasal tip. The surgical technique will depend on the patient's needs and problems.

Rhinoplasty techniques to reduce the width of the tip of the nose:

  • Refining the cartilage at the tip of the nose Remove the upper part of the wing cartilages, on the upper part of the nostrils, to make the tip of the nose less broad and globular.
  • Sutures of the nasal tip cartilage the sutures shape the cartilage. They refine the contours of the tip. The choice of suture depends on the patient's nose.
  • Cartilage graft placement the grafts project the cartilage ultrastructure. The relief of the tip is enhanced, particularly in the case of thick hide.
  • Skin degreasing This technique is only used on patients with very thick skin (ethnic rhinoplasties).

It is also possible to combine this procedure with resection of the wings of the nose, to refine the nose on the sides.

TREATMENT OF THE DEVIATED TIP

Deviated tip treatment corrects each element responsible for the deviation.

In general, several gestures are associated:

  • Correction of partition deviation nasal ;
  • Readjustment of the tip-defining cartilage;
  • Correction of cartilage in the middle third of the nose (dorsum).

TREATMENT OF THE DROOPING TIP

Removing a drooping tip is a delicate operation. The aim here is to obtain a final result without raising the tip too much.

The technique can combine different gestures:

  • Resection (removal of part of) the anterior nasal septum;
  • Work on wing cartilage with possible suture or section-suture;
  • Setting up a supporting cartilage graft, called «columellar strut».

It is possible to combine correction gestures for nose too long (hyperprojected nose) to the treatment of drooping tip, or the treating a bump.

For the drooping point associated with smiling or speaking, there is an additional gesture. The drooping point effect associated with smiling or speaking is due to hyperactivity of the depressor septi nasi muscle.

The operation consists in dislodging this muscle from its high bony attachment (anterior nasal spine), without cutting it. An operation without nose surgery is also possible (see end of article).

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE OPERATION?

The immediate aftermath is as follows not too restrictive.

The patient does not feel no real pain after the operation. Doctor Djian does not use no wicks.

For the first few days, it is advisable to rest as much as possible and to’avoid violent exertion. It is possible that a edema appears, However, bruising under the eyes is rare, as there is no surgical intervention on the bone.

After 5 to 7 days, a inspection appointment is scheduled, during which the nose protection splint and sutures are removed. A return to normal social and professional life is possible 7 to 15 days after the operation.

During 1 month, it will be necessary to proceed to a regular cleaning of the nasal cavities.

NOSE TIP LIFT WITHOUT SURGERY: BOTOX

If the tip of a patient's nose falls off when he speaks or smiles, it is possible to up the nose tip without plastic surgery.

The drooping of the tip of the nose when smiling or speaking is due to the action of the “depressor nasi septi” muscle. This muscle is located at the level of the columella and draws the tip of the nose downwards when it contracts.

This effect can be corrected with botulinum toxin, more commonly known as «Botox».

Botox injections reduce muscle action “depressor nasi septi” by a simple injection and prevents the tip from dropping.

The injection technique is simple. A single injection point is defined within the muscle. It is usually located at the base of the nose, above the upper lip.

For a final result optimal, the plastic surgeon goes :

  • Analyze the movements of the tip of the nose when speaking and smiling;
  • Analyze the cartilage structures of the tip of the nose and their rigidity;
  • Analyze the nasal septum or wing cartilage, the structures that support the tip.

Botox injection provides a solution fast and effective, without surgery.

This treatment is particularly indicated for minor drooping and tip lift. Generally speaking, the best treatment for wind up the tip remains conventional surgical rhinoplasty.

PRICE OF NOSE JOB AND SOCIAL SECURITY REIMBURSEMENT

The price of rhinoplasty of the tip of the nose is around €6,000.

This price includes doctor's fees, operating room fees, hospitalization fees and anesthetist's fees. It does not include the initial consultation, the consultation with the anaesthetist or post-operative medication.

The rhinoplasty is an intervention by aesthetic plastic surgery. It is therefore not covered by Social Security.

Your Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT ADVANCED RHINOPLASTY

CAN THE TIP OF THE NOSE BE RAISED SLIGHTLY WITHOUT SURGERY?

more less

Yes, a botox injection can correct a drooping smile tip, by acting on the muscle depressor septi nasi responsible for lowering the nose during facial expressions. This simple, painless procedure leaves no scars, and results become visible within 5 to 10 days. Dr. Djian evaluates smile dynamics, tip mobility and cartilage structure to ensure that the treatment is effective. This protocol is reserved for very mild cases, with no permanent structural loss.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE THE FINAL RESULT AFTER TIP RHINOPLASTY?

more less

It takes between 6 and 12 months to judge the final result.. The tip of the nose takes time to deflate, especially if the skin is thick. Dr. Djian provides regular follow-up to monitor post-operative progress. Transient variations in relief or asymmetry may appear in the first few weeks before stabilization.

CAN A HEREDITARY DROOPING TIP BE CORRECTED?

more less

Yes, rhinoplasty can effectively treat a genetic drooping tip.. Dr. Djian works on the septum, wing cartilage and nasal musculature to restore natural projection. This type of correction often requires a supporting graft. Surgery is fully customized to the shape of the nose and aesthetic expectations.

DOES NOSE TIP RHINOPLASTY LEAVE SCARS?

more less

No, the technique used by Dr. Djian is a closed rhinoplasty with no visible scar.. All incisions are made inside the nostrils, making the postoperative period more comfortable and the result more discreet. This method is ideally suited to isolated tip corrections, except in the case of very complex noses requiring an open approach.
