Your Questions
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT RECOVERY FROM BREAST AUGMENTATION
WHICH DRUGS TO TAKE FOR PAIN RELIEF DURING CONVALESCENCE?
Dr. Djian generally prescribes mild to moderate analgesics (such as paracetamol) and sometimes anti-inflammatory drugs. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) should be avoided without medical advice, as they may increase the risk of bleeding. It is crucial to follow the Plastic Surgeon's instructions carefully and avoid self-medication.
CAN YOU SLEEP ON YOUR SIDE OR STOMACH AFTER BREAST AUGMENTATION?
For the first few weeks, it's essential to sleep on your back, slightly inclined, to minimize pressure on the breasts, avoid the migration of the breast prosthesis and promote healing. Sleeping on your side or stomach is not advisable for at least 6 weeks, as this may disturb the positioning of the implants and slow recovery.
CAN BREAST IMPLANTS MOVE DURING RECOVERY?
The breast implants may shift if postoperative instructions are not followed, particularly in the event of sudden movements or premature physical exertion. Wearing a support bra and avoiding strenuous physical activity are crucial to enable the implants to stabilize in their final position.
WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF HORMONAL VARIATIONS DURING CONVALESCENCE?
Hormonal variations can cause increased breast sensitivity, particularly during the menstrual cycle. These sensations are normal and should diminish over time. If pain or unusual changes persist, consult your surgeon to rule out any risk of complication.
ARE THERE ANY DIETARY PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN AFTER BREAST AUGMENTATION?
A healthy, balanced diet is essential to promote healing and reduce the risk of inflammation. Foods rich in protein, vitamins C and E, and zinc are recommended. You should also avoid alcohol, which can interfere with prescribed medication, and foods that are too salty, which can accentuate swelling..
HOW DO I WASH MY HAIR AFTER A BREAST AUGMENTATION?
For the first few days, avoid full showers to protect the incisions. For hair, you can use a dry shampoo. Alternatively, tilt your head over a sink for assisted washing. For this, ask for help, or hire a hairdresser at home. Wait at least 48 hours before wetting your hair and follow Dr Jérémy Djian's recommendations.
